Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan Yojana.
The scheme comes under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
It aims to ensure energy security for farmers in India and was launched in 2019.
It also aims to ensure India’s commitment to increase the share of installed capacity of electric power from non-fossil-fuel sources to 40% by 2030.
This commitment was made by India as a part of the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions.
Installation of off-grid solar pumps in rural areas and to enable farmers to set up solar power generation capacity on their barren lands and sell it to the grid are considered to be the main objectives of the scheme.
